Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt™

Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD PhD™ is a physician, educator, author and internationally recognized voice in biological and integrative medicine. For more than four decades his clinical work has focused on understanding the complex relationships among the nervous system, immune system, environmental influences, chronic infections, unresolved trauma and human health.

Background

Dr. Klinghardt™ studied medicine and psychology in Freiburg, Germany, where his research explored the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and the body's regulatory systems. After moving to the United States he became Medical Director of the Santa Fe Pain Centre.

Frameworks

Over the course of his career, Dr. Klinghardt™ developed several influential clinical and educational frameworks, including Autonomic Response Testing ® & The 5 Levels of Healing™. His work brings together conventional medical knowledge, neurobiology, environmental medicine, psychology and selected traditions of biological medicine.

Teaching

Dr. Klinghardt™ has trained practitioners and presented lectures, seminars and workshops internationally. His teaching emphasizes careful observation, a complete physical exam, individualized care, professional curiosity, and the importance of considering the physical, energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions of human experience.

A Life Dedicated to Healing

  1. Early YearsFreiburg, Germany

    Medical & Psychological Studies

    Dr. Klinghardt ™️ studied medicine and psychology in Freiburg, Germany, where his doctoral research in the specialty Angiology (The science of the vascular system and blood flow) explored the relationship between the autonomic nervous system, the vascular system and the immune system.

  2. 1980sUnited States

    Emergency Medicine & Santa Fe Pain Center

    After moving to the United States, he worked full-time as an emergency medicine physician for six years at a high-level trauma center before becoming Medical Director of the Santa Fe Pain Center. These early experiences deepened his understanding of human suffering and shaped his commitment to looking beyond isolated symptoms to understand the whole person.

  3. 1990sClinical Development

    Autonomic Response Testing ® (A.R.T.®)

    Dr. Klinghardt™ developed Autonomic Response Testing® (ART), a refined muscle-tone biofeedback assessment system designed to explore potential root causes of illness through the body’s own regulatory responses.

    The 5 Levels of Healing™

    Dr. Klinghardt™ formalized his signature framework addressing the physical, energetic (biophysical), mental, transpersonal and spiritual dimensions of health, and began training practitioners and is presenting lectures, seminars and workshops internationally.

    I am the founder of Sophia Health Institute by Dr. Klinghardt™ in Woodinville, Washington, a world-renowned center that brings together conventional medical knowledge, neurobiology, environmental medicine, psychology, and selected traditions of biological medicine.
